Saved for a purpose

I lost one of my earrings on my first day back to work... It was a new and nice one and so I went tracing back my steps to see if I could find it...

As I looked for my earring, I couldn't help but think... me looking for the earring was similar to God looking for lost souls...

The verse from Ephesians about us being dead in our transgression came to mind... I mean, that earring was dead - it was a dead thing - that's why it was so difficult to find it. Because even if walked passed it, it wouldn't have been able to scream at me and tell me that it is there. I might have walked passed it. But yeah, it's a dead thing... there is no way it could have 'saved' itself and brought itself back to me. Only way for it to be 'useful' - was for it to be found by me... Only then can it be paired up again and be used for what it was created for...

Now, why do I feel that helps me to understand Ephesians 2 better??? Maybe not for other people... =)

--------
The earring couldn't save itself because it is a 'dead' thing. I needed to find it or it would be a 'rubbish'. Only after being found, it would be useful and serve what it was created for.

Same like us - dead in our sins - can't save ourselves. God needs to save us. We need saving or we will stay dead - and useless. God only can save us - and only after being saved will we be 'useful' again - useful in that we can serve the purpose of our creation - to do good works...
