I usually try to stay away from politics, too... but, hey, there is also the first time for everything, right? So, here it goes...

Now, if the media is right, isn't that attitude totally the opposite of my post on "team"? Sure, it might sound noble at a glance... not trying to run away from something that his comrades would have to do... But really, each one is given different responsibilities... There are people who best serve the team by going and there are people who best serve the team by staying behind... (no, not talking about going for the gospel etc, this is just a common sense...) I mean, think of how many lives he would put in danger should he really go and then become a target...

Shouldn't his nation's best interest be his first priority? Not his own desires and wishes or even what he thought best?

I know, the general now says "go" - so maybe they have considered that... and I know media don't always get things right. =) But if what's written there about his attitude is right... that's sad....

One of the passages I read this morning was Numbers 8 and DAC referred to Eph 4 in his notes. And Eph 4 is about people being given different gifts to serve the whole body for the sake of Christ's body being built up etc... Hopefully I will always remember to use the "gifts" given to me through grace in Christ - for the sake of building up Christ's body and according to what He thinks best, and not use them selfishly or even as I think best - after all, I might think my intention is good, but Jer 17:9 reminds me that "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?".
